Myth vs Fact #38

Myth Fact
Islam: Religion of peace. 4:102 When you (O Messenger Muhammad) are among them, and lead them in As-Salât (the prayer), let one party of them stand up [in Salât (prayer)] with you taking their arms with them; when they finish their prostrations, let them take their positions in the rear and let the other party come up which has not yet prayed, and let them pray with you taking all the precautions and bearing arms. Those who disbelieve wish, if you were negligent of your arms and your baggage, to attack you in a single rush, but there is no sin on you if you put away your arms because of the inconvenience of rain or because you are ill, but take every precaution for yourselves. Verily, Allâh has prepared a humiliating torment for the disbelievers.
Tafsir: Salat Al-Qasr, Shortening the Prayer
Prayer during the Times of Peace is performed normally
The Reason behind Revealing this Ayah
Bottom Line: This is about prayer in preparation for making an attack, at the battlefront. Islam is about war, not holiness.

Again why don’t you try to show a little more intelligence in your post instead of ignorance. So a muslim is to just let them selves be open target to an attack. Islam is a way of life, not a 30 minute story time on sunday.

  2. dajjal Says:

Intelligence and ignorance are not alternatives. The former is required to acquire and retain knowledge. Ignorance prevents intelligent persons from learning, particularly willful ignorance.

Because Islam’s canon of scripture, tradition & jurisprudence is readily available on the web, any intelligent person having internet access has no excuse for ignorance of Islam.

Islam began in a passive dispensation, too weak to make war, it went along to get along. As it accrued an army, it moved into its permissive dispensation when Allah graciously granted permission for defensive fighting against the Mekkan oppressors. As the army grew in numbers and tactical skill, Islam progressed to the offensive dispensation, with a divine mandate to conquer the world.

It is not necessary to read Surahs 2, 8,9 & 48 to learn these facts; you can learn them by reading The Sealed Nectar, Moe’s biography.

The Islamic way of life is Jihad: offensive war against non-Muslims. Visit the Quran Complex or download the Noble Qur’an trans. by Hilali & Khan and read the footnote to 2:190 Then read the definition given in Islamic Law, Reliance of the Traveller, Book O, Chapter 9.0. To complete the lesson, read Sunan Abu Dawud Book 23, Number 3455. Those texts will be reflected in later installments of the Myth vs Fact series as they are edited and posted here.
