Myth Fact
Islam: Religion of peace. 33:23 Among the believers are men who have been true to their covenant with Allâh [i.e. they have gone out for Jihâd (holy fighting), and showed not their backs to the disbelievers], of them some have fulfilled their obligations (i.e. have been martyred), and some of them are still waiting, but they have never changed [i.e.they never proved treacherous to their covenant which they concluded with Allâh] in the least.
Tafsir The Command to follow the Messenger

The Attitude of the Believers towards the Confederates

Bottom Line: What is their covenant with Allah? They sold their souls for the promise of Paradise, in return for which they fight, kill and are killed. 9:111, 61:10-13.

Myth Fact
Islam: Religion of peace. 33:18 Allâh already knows those among you who keep back (men) from fighting in Allâh’s Cause, and those who say to their brethren “Come here towards us,” while they (themselves) come not to the battle except a little
Tafsir How the Believers were tested, and the Position of the Hypocrites during the Battle of Al-Khandaq
Bottom Line: Is there anything more important to Islam than jihad?
Turn to page 449 of The  Life of Muhammad and read about this in detail.

Continue to page 451 and examine the story containing this quote: [Emphasis added.]

“I said: ‘0 you, dearer than father or mother, what is the meaning of this light beneath your pick as you strike?’ He said: ‘Did you
really see that, Salman? The first means that God has opened up to me the Yaman; the second Syria and the west; and the third the east.’ One whom I dp not suspect told me that Abu Hurayra used to say when these
countries were conquered in the time of ‘Umar and ‘Uthman and after, ‘Conquer where you will, by God, you have not conquered and to the resurrection day you will not conquer a city whose keys God had not given
beforehand to Muhammad.”

Myth Fact
Islam: Religion of peace. 33:16 Say (O Muhammad to these hypocrites who ask your permission to run away from you): “Flight will not avail you if you flee from death or killing, and then you will enjoy no more than a little while!”
Tafsir How the Believers were tested, and the Position of the Hypocrites during the Battle of Al-Khandaq
Bottom Line: Moe accused those who fled from battle of cowardice and warned them that if they were scheduled to die, Allah would get them on or off the battle field.  See 3:140…143 and 3:154.

Myth Fact
Islam: Religion of peace. 29:10 Of mankind are some who say: “We believe in Allâh,” but if they are made to suffer for the sake of Allâh, they consider the trial of mankind as Allâh’s punishment, and if victory comes from your Lord, (the hypocrites) will say: “Verily! We were with you (helping you).” Is not Allâh Best Aware of what is in the breast of the ‘Alamîn (mankind and jinns).
Tafsir The Attitudes of the Hypocrites and the Ways in which Allah tests People
Bottom Line Jihad is a means of testing. Refer to 3:140. “suffer for the sake of Allâh” is a code phrase for jihad.

Myth Fact
Islam: Religion of peace. 24:57 Consider not that the disbelievers can escape in the land. Their abode shall be the Fire, and worst indeed is that destination. .
Tafsir Allah’s Promise to the Believers that He would grant them Succession

Making Preparations for War to strike Fear in the Hearts of the Enemies of Allah

Bottom Line: Refer back to 24:55 …He will certainly grant them succession to (the present rulers) in the earth, as He granted it to those before them, and that He will grant them the authority to practise their religion, that which He has chosen for them (i.e. Islâm)…. this is about world conquest, not peace.

Myth vs Fact #97

Myth Fact
Islam: Religion of peace. 24:55 Allâh has promised those among you who believe, and do righteous good deeds, that He will certainly grant them succession to (the present rulers) in the earth, as He granted it to those before them, and that He will grant them the authority to practise their religion, that which He has chosen for them (i.e. Islâm). And He will surely give them in exchange a safe security after their fear (provided) they (believers) worship Me and do not associate anything (in worship) with Me. But whoever disbelieved after this, they are the Fâsiqûn (rebellious, disobedient to Allâh).
Tafsir
Bottom Line: What are good deeds? See the context of 9:119-129. If you  answered “Jihad”, go to the head of the class!

Myth Fact
Islam: Religion of peace. 24:53 They swear by Allâh their strongest oaths, that if only you would order them, they would leave (their homes for fighting in Allâh’s Cause). Say: “Swear you not; (this) obedience (of yours) is known (to be false). Verily, Allâh knows well what you do.”
Tafsir The Treachery of the Hypocrites and the Attitude of the Believers
Bottom
Line
Leaving your home, going out and emigrating are euphemisms for joining the Jihad, which is offensive warfare.  Hypocrites are “moderate” Muslims who do not want to  join the Jihad.  This receives explicit expression in  9:38.

Myth vs Fact #95

April 9, 2010
Myth Fact
Islam: Religion of peace. 22:78 And strive hard in Allah’s Cause as you ought to strive (with sincerity and with all your efforts that His Name should be superior). He has chosen you (to convey His Message of Islamic Monotheism to mankind by inviting them to His religion, Islam), and has not laid upon you in religion any hardship, it is the religion of your father Ibrahim (Abraham) (Islamic Monotheism). It is He (Allah) Who has named you Muslims both before and in this (the Qur’an), that the Messenger (Muhammad SAW) may be a witness over you and you be witnesses over mankind! So perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), give Zakat and hold fast to Allah [i.e. have confidence in Allah, and depend upon Him in all your affairs] He is your Maula (Patron, Lord, etc.), what an Excellent Maula (Patron, Lord, etc.) and what an Excellent Helper!
Tafsir

Line
The title of the first tafsir listed above tells the whole story. If you doubt this, click through to the hadith linked in the parenthetical expression added by the translators.  Allah’s cause is making Islam dominate the entire world.

Myth Fact
Islam: Religion of peace. 22:58 Those who emigrated in the Cause of Allah and after that were killed or died, surely, Allah will provide a good provision for them. And verily, it is Allah Who indeed is the Best of those who make provision.
Tafsir The Great Reward for Those Who migrate in the Cause of Allah

The Disbelievers will remain in Doubt and Confusion

Bottom
Line
What did they do? They migrated in Allah’s cause. How would migration result in being killed?  Why would migration  bear a great reward?

Migration is a code word for “fighting in  in Allah’s cause”, aka. Jihad.

Myth vs Fact #93

April 9, 2010
Myth Fact
Islam: Religion of peace. 22:39 Permission to fight is given to those (i.e. believers against disbelievers), who are fighting them, (and) because they (believers) have been wronged, and surely, Allâh is Able to give them (believers) victory.
Tafsir Permission to fight; this is the first Ayah of Jihad

Good News of Allah’s Defence for the Believers

Bottom
Line
Jihad in Islam  was ordained in three dispensations, related to the power possessed by Moe and his army: prohibited, defensive & offensive.  In this ayeh,  Allah is giving Moe permission to retaliate against Mekkah as his army grew after the migration to Medina.
