Their Quran viewer link is to this site: http://www.2muslims.com/directory/Detailed/223253.shtml
Arabic & Yusuf Ali’s translation are included, others available. Disclaimer says the audio is disfunctional.
My guess is that it is a large download.

This site includes lists of links to on line resources and Muhaddith’s library which has an extensive collection of Arabic texts. They will sell you a CD for about $30. Their English translations are somewhat limited, but probably worth it if you are deep into the subject. Links include how to obtain a free hard copy of the Qur’an in English.

Muttaqun On Line offers an Arabic/English/Audio combination, the download is large!!
The Noble Qur’an in PDF format – English and Arabic. Click on each verse to hear it recited in Arabic. 197 MB download.

Their on line display has translations by Yusuf Ali, Pickthal, Shakir & Khan plus several other languages; the whole lot can be viewed in parallel. It includes a search engine.

Quran.org.uk has many resources. Be sure to open the drop down box in the links division!

The Pooya Yazdi translation I have is a .chm file which requires special software if you use Linux or other non Windows operating systems.

AbdurRahman.org has some interesting links:

The Noble Qur’an chm version should be close to 1mb. The 978p pdf must be at least twice that size, and more if it includes the commentary included on the web site. Hilali & Khan reportedly used Yusuf Ali’s translation and wove in three tafsirs [in brackets]. A web contact fluent in both Arabic & English informs me that this translation is 95% accurate. The inaccuracies involve fighting & marriage. Basically, where “fight” is printed, the true word is “kill”; where marry is printed, the true word is an infamous four letter obscenity.
Tafsir Ibn Kathir ( http://www.tafsir.com ) On line, no search engine. Visit http://www.qtafsir.com for the same text and a good search engine.

Crusader-Armory: Qur’an, Hadith, downloads and resources

I have concatenated The Noble Qur’an (Hilali & Kahn) into a Windows help file, Noble Qur’an.chm. If you use Windows, you can save it to your desktop and

There are two versions. The older versions are monolithic and must be searched with the Ctrl F Windows search. The entire book may be searched at once. The do not have Search or Index tabs.
The new versions, in the New Extended Library, can not be searched monolithically. They have full functioning Search, Index & Favorites tabs. Both versions include Abu Dawud. Bukhari, Muslim & Malik’s Muwatta. The new version includes
Ibn Kathir’s Tafsir and a selection of the most egregious ayat & ahyadith. Only the new versions merge at run time.

Note: the Javascript search tends to hang. I searched for the following ahadith, which Ibn Iblis lists here as 4.52.163(a):

That ahadith is not to be found in the collection, so I must conclude that it is incomplete.

There is much more at Islamia and the other sites mentioned in this post.

The following links are supplied for readers whose interest extends beyond Islam.

This site appears to specialize in Chineese, but it has several translations including Arabic, Chineese, English & Finnish. It is not easy to determine from the list which files are compatible with which software.

Another translation site offers free downloads of Bibles and software, with several translations available, including Arabic. The page is not in English, it was automatically translated when I opened it. I copied some links:

Al Muhaddith Project – Search Engine
This is the only on line source known to me for The Reliance of the Traveller, the key to Islamic law. There is more, much more available to those who can read Arabic. [http://www.muhaddith.org/cgi-bin/e_Optns.exe?] [http://www.muhaddith.org/]

Note: I should have updated this entry previously! One academic site hosts a huge text file which may or may not be complete and accurate. It takes a long time to load, and you need to use the Windows Search [Ctrl F] to find anything.  In many of my posts, I linked to Scribid. That version of Reliance has been removed, breaking those links.

Muslim Access Tafseer of the Salaf Imam Ibn Taymiyyah An Introduction to the Principles of Tafseer © 1993 Al-Hidaayah.
The volume is not complete: 8 & 9 are broken links! Note: this site has slow script, you need Firefox2 so that you can disable the script in order to load it in a decent time span. Several other books on this site have broken links.

—I have not checked these. Some of them may be instructive.

Islamic History

Aisha Bewley began a translation of Bukhari, which probably is not Bowdlerized. It has this in common with the version at Sunni Path: (Not included in the USC version.)

LXXXVII: What is said about spears

It is mentioned from Ibn ‘Umar from the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, “My provision has been placed under the shadow of my spear, and abasement and humility have been placed on the one who disobeys my command.”

She also offers some history.

Sacred Texts has several works you might not find elsewhere, though you probably won’t find the smoking gun in them. There is plenty of background information to be had.

Islam Web has a fair sized Shia library.

Java Man has three books, one of which is a must read also available elsewhere:

Enjoining Right and Forbidding Wrong – By Ibn Taimia

Islam Basics offers an Islamic library, both on line and in pdf format. To read the books on line, use Firefox2, from the View menu, select Character Encoding: Unicode.

Auspices of the Ultimate Victory of Islam
By: Yusuf Al-Qaradawi

Al Islam (Ahmadiya) has a Qur’an translation with Tafsir included. Note that this is a series of scanned pages, not text. Note further that the verse numbering system differs from the convention used by modern translations.

Islamic Finder has a directory which may prove useful in your quest for resources.

There is another large library at islaamlib.

Discovered through a link in an article by Dr. Andrew Bostom at American Thinker. Islamibayanaat has a Tafsir, rich in history and detail in the parts I examined, 960 pages, 8 * 30MB packages or numerous smaller sections to download. My guess is that the book is probably the work of Dr. Taqi Usmani, a retired Jurist and Shariah (financeial) expert. The following section links to an index which will facilitate selecting the files you wish to download for examining the tafsir of particular Surahs.

Last update – 1/17/2008. English Maariful Quran Courtesy of Darul Uloom Karachi, Pakistan – This may move to Darul Uloom Karachi website in the future. Alhamdulillah, this set is complete. This is a combined effort with www.BanglaKitab.com. To Download the files Right Click and select “Save Target As” and use Acrobat Reader(Free) to open.

The left sidebar has a link to a tafsir of hadith, which appears to be incomplete, a work in progress. These books are scanned images, not text, quoting them will require typing the quotes or use of OCR software and probably extensive editing.

Their home page includes other potentially interesting links, including this fairly extensive library.
